The Miner's Track, near the plateau on top of Muckish. Lower down
the route weaves from side to side and in places even has steps
cut into the rock. Such weaving is not surprising since from the
foot of the mountain to the plateau you rise about 340m in a
horizontal distance of around 690m, which without zig-zags would
be a gradient of around 48%! On later parts of the walk, where
there are no paths, zig-zagging is more difficult.
