The organised walk uses an established path, the Miner's Track,
to ascend Muckish. It is above the heads of the two nearer
walkers in the picture. As you can see from the photo taken in
1996 Muckish was clear of mist and the weather was generally
good. This meant that more people arrived than usual. Most years
around one hundred and fifty do the organised walk, so you can
imagine the difficulties for the organisers when three hundred
and ten turned up!
