View of approach to Muckish.
The organised walk uses an established path, the Miner's Track, to ascend Muckish. It is above the heads of the two nearer walkers in the picture. As you can see from the photo taken in 1996 Muckish was clear of mist and the weather was generally good. This meant that more people arrived than usual. Most years around one hundred and fifty do the organised walk, so you can imagine the difficulties for the organisers when three hundred and ten turned up!
