Mount Leinster - Part of the Blackstairs

| This panoramic view of the northern end of the
Blackstairs would have greeted you if you did the Wayfarers' walk of 1998. The
central top, with the TV aerial, is Mount Leinster 795m. The walk takes you up to this
top, after which you turn left, heading down a broad ridge, which you can see in the
picture to the right of the distant Blackstairs Mountain 735m. Beyond the ridge
there is a drop then a rise to Knockroe 540m (not visible) followed by a drop to Sculloge
Gap (and refreshments!). To the right of Mt Leinster the next, rather slight, top is Black Banks 644m, followed by point 428. Beyond that, on the extreme right is Croaghaun 455m. For more on the Blackstairs: here. The picture was taken on the ridge between Black Rock Mountain and Mt Leinster. |
